AlBeRo continues to monitor several water quality issues affecting our lakes. In 2023 we conducted 18 water tests. The points chosen were based on where we have found previous issues. As expected, pollution from animal agriculture continues to pollute Beaven Lake, particularly in the north near the Elk Farm where swimming should be avoided after rainfall.
Thick plant matter was found growing in proximity to two of the most polluted tributaries in the north of Beaven lake. See photos below, they are also featured on the map.
Points on the map are colour coded; red indicates higher than normal contamination levels, yellow indicates somewhat high levels, blue indicates the levels are not problematic.
By clicking on the map bellow you will be able to view the data in Google My Maps. Clicking on the points will reveal the test results. We plan on continuing to monitor lake water quality going forward.
